Windshield replacement in Dallas
Mobile, quoted from your VIN, and recalibrated where your vehicle needs it. We come to the car — a driveway in Lakewood, an office deck downtown, a lot in the Design District — and it does not move until the adhesive is safe.
What makes Dallas different
Dallas is our home market and the one we cover most densely. It is also, from a glass point of view, a demanding one. Heavy freight moves on I-30, I-20 and I-35E, there is near-permanent construction somewhere on the loop throwing aggregate, and a Texas summer puts a windshield through a hard thermal cycle every single day. A chip that would sit stable for months somewhere cooler spreads across the glass here in an afternoon.
That is why the repair-or-replace judgement matters more in this city than most, and why we would rather look at a photograph before telling you which one you are paying for.
The roads the damage comes from
- I-35E (Stemmons Freeway)
- US-75 (Central Expressway)
- I-30 (Tom Landry Freeway)
- I-635 (LBJ Freeway)
- I-45
- Dallas North Tollway
- Woodall Rodgers Freeway
Parking is the real scheduling constraint
Central Dallas is dominated by structured parking, and that shapes how we schedule. Many downtown and Uptown decks have posted clearances that a service van cannot pass, so for a job on a high floor we often need you to bring the vehicle to a surface lot, a ground level, or the street. Tell us the garage when you book and we will work it out beforehand rather than at the barrier. The upside of a covered deck is that it is the one location where rain does not cancel the appointment.
What decides your price
We do not publish a fixed figure because there is not one. These are the variables that actually move a windshield quote, and the VIN resolves nearly all of them before we arrive:
- Vehicle and trim
- Glass availability and part cost vary enormously between a common sedan and a low-volume or recent model.
- Glass features
- Acoustic interlayer, heating elements, heads-up display, rain and light sensors, and shade bands all raise the part cost.
- Camera and sensor hardware
- A windshield carrying a driver-assistance camera costs more, and adds a required recalibration step.
- Calibration type
- Static calibration needs targets and controlled space. Dynamic calibration needs a road drive. Some vehicles need both.
- Mouldings and clips
- Many vehicles use single-use mouldings and clips that must be renewed rather than reused.
- Rust or prior damage at the pinchweld
- Corrosion found under the old glass has to be treated properly. Bonding new glass over rust guarantees a repeat failure.
- Where the work happens
- Some calibrations cannot be completed in an open car park and need controlled conditions.
More on that, and what is inside the number we give you, on the pricing page.
How the appointment runs
Send the VIN and a photo
Bottom of the windshield on the driver side, or the door jamb sticker. One photograph from outside showing the break, and one from inside behind the mirror if there is a camera there.
We quote the exact glass
Including whether your vehicle needs camera recalibration, priced up front rather than added afterwards. Usually back to you within the hour during the working day.
We come to the vehicle
Home, work, or wherever it is parked. Tell us if it is a structured deck and we will sort out access before the day rather than at the barrier.
Glass in, camera aimed, proof in your hand
You get the scan report showing the safety systems were verified, and the safe drive-away time for the adhesive we actually used.
Where in Dallas we work
Across the city, from Preston Hollow down through Oak Cliff and out to Pleasant Grove and White Rock:
Downtown · Uptown · Deep Ellum · Oak Lawn · Bishop Arts · Oak Cliff · Lakewood · Lower Greenville · Preston Hollow · White Rock · Design District · Casa Linda · Vickery Meadow · Pleasant Grove · Trinity Groves
Outside the city limits we cover 24 cities across six counties — see the full service area, or the Dallas coverage page for how scheduling works here across every glass service rather than just windshields.
Not sure it needs replacing?
A repair costs considerably less, and where the damage genuinely qualifies it is the better answer. Size, depth and where the chip sits on the glass all decide it. Our guides on repair versus replacement and the first 24 hours after a rock chip set out where the line falls — and in this climate, keeping a fresh chip clean and dry genuinely changes whether it stays repairable.
Windshield replacement in Dallas — common questions
How much does a windshield replacement cost in Dallas?
It depends on the glass your vehicle actually takes, which is why we quote from the VIN rather than the year and model. A base windshield and the same car with a rain sensor, an acoustic interlayer and a forward-facing camera are different parts at genuinely different prices. Send the VIN and you get a real figure rather than a range that moves when we arrive.
Can you replace it at my office in Downtown or Uptown?
Often, and covered parking is genuinely useful because rain stops mattering. The constraint is height — a lot of central Dallas decks post clearances a service van cannot pass. Tell us the building and the level when you book and we will confirm access beforehand, or arrange to meet you at ground level or a surface lot.
How long does it take, and when can I drive?
The glass work itself is usually one to three hours on a straightforward vehicle. What people underestimate is the adhesive cure afterwards, and any recalibration your car needs. We give you the safe drive-away time for the adhesive we actually used that day, in writing, rather than a generic number.
Does my car need camera recalibration?
If it has lane-keeping, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise or traffic-sign recognition, there is almost certainly a camera looking through the windshield, and moving that glass moves the camera. Dallas runs a lot of recent vehicles, so this applies more often here than people expect. It is quoted up front where it is needed — a cheaper quote that leaves it out is not cheaper, it is incomplete.
Do you charge extra to come to me in Dallas?
No. Mobile is how we work rather than a premium option, and the quote does not change because of your ZIP code. Distance affects when we can reach you, not what it costs.
Do you cover the rest of DFW as well?
Yes — Glass Genie covers 24 cities across six counties. Dallas is our densest market, but the same service runs out to Fort Worth, Denton, Rockwall and Waxahachie. The service area page lists every city with its own coverage notes.
